The same general shape can be created by using different layout types,
so, ultimately it all depends on how you want your items to flow through that shape.
Here is flex, multicol, and grid-lanes.
flexbox and multicol: same thing
you get columns with items flowing down each column one by one.
grid-lanes: a big difference in the order of elements.
Because grid-lanes is opportunistic.
It doesn't like to leave gaps.
It'll try to fill the shortest lane first.
And this is what gives us this criss-cross pattern.
Almost like rows in this case.
So, similar shapes, very different flow.
